Welcome back, travelers. I hope you enjoyed the first part of the blog and that’s the reason you’re here again eager to learn (if you haven’t read the first part of the mini-series, check it out here
Let’s jump right in.
I’ve heard it a million times, “Well PediaBookTravelBitz says that you offer a personal masseuse and bags of money in my room, but you’re saying you don’t? I want my money back!”. With thousands of PediaBookTravelBitz type sites, and more popping up on a daily basis, it’s impossible for the hotel to keep an eye on all the information that is out there. But do you know where we can keep track of our information and update it quick and easy? Our official site. The official site is by far the best place to see what kind of experience you are to expect when you arrive to your destination. From an accurate and up-to-date list of amenities and services, to full galleries and on-site specials, you know you’re going to get exactly what’s on the hotel’s site when you arrive.
This next point ties into the one above, and it’s an unfortunate consequence to booking on PediaBookTravelBitz: Room Types. Although we do give sites like PediaBookTravelBitz our room types and descriptions, a lot of times they aren’t represented properly. People come to the hotel expecting a direct oceanfront, and end up with a side view of the ocean just because the people at PediaBookTravelBitz didn’t know that there was a difference. So you see online that your room is $100 less on PediaBookTravelBitz than the ‘direct oceanfront’ on the hotel’s site, only to find out that’s because you didn’t actually book a ‘direct oceanfront’.
To add onto that point, a lot of times the reservations that we receive from PediaBookTravelBitz will simply come over as a ‘Standard Room’. You think you’re getting your family of 6 the highest floor with the best ocean view and a Jacuzzi, and you end up on the lowest floor facing a parking lot with one double bed. It’s very unfortunate when this happens because a lot of times nothing can be done to fix the problem because, being in Ocean City, the hotel’s are sold out during the summer and a standard room can’t be upgraded. No one walks away happy in this situation. You don’t get the room that you expected, and the hotel can’t do anything to fix the problem.
Beyond the room, one of the most important things to a guest when staying at a hotel is customer service. When you book direct with a hotel you get the best customer service from start to finish. You will receive assistance from someone who is on-site. Someone that knows the property and can answer any question you might have. They might even be able to offer you a special price that isn’t advertised at PediaBookTravelBitz. And, if for any reason you have an issue with your reservation, you know that you can call the hotel directly and they will be able to assist you. I say this because a lot of times with reservations from PediaBookTravelBitz the hotel can’t do anything with it. Can’t change the room type, can’t change the dates, can’t cancel it, and can’t refund money. In most cases it is physically impossible to refund money because you pay PediaBookTravelBitz with your credit card and PediaBookTravelBitz sends us money with a separate PediaBookTravelBitz credit card for your stay. So it is 2 different transactions: you pay them then they pay us. So, all changes have to be made by contacting them (see part 1 about the joys of contacting PediaBookTravelBitz sites).
Mind.BLOWN! I know, it’s fascinating stuff. I don’t want to overload you with too much life changing information, so I’m going to wrap things up for today. Got questions? I got answers! Just jump on over to our Facebook page (click here) and ask them on the post about part 2 of the blog. Until next time, travelers.
