Do you feel that? The warmer days and nights. The days where a jacket isn’t necessary. The tough morning decision whether to wear shorts or pants? That right there is what we call Spring. And with Spring rolling in it’s that time where you begin to itch for some much needed beach time! And if it’s the beach you’re after, we got you covered with the clean, award-winning Ocean City beach. But let’s just say you’re thinking about doing a little more this year with your OC vacation. Well, we got you covered there, too! We have the Spring savings hotel rates and all the family-fun event dates, and we want to tell you all about them! Check out below and see what’s waiting for you beyond the beach.

The absolute biggest kick-off event in Ocean City each year is Springfest. Four days of music, food, one-of-a-kind vendors, and so much more. But for most of our readers Springfest is a familiar event. So, we want to highlight some other special events, some new and some coming back for more, before we get into Springfest. Don’t worry, we won’t forget about it!

Possibly the most exciting new event this year will have all your friends back home super jelly (jealous) of your OC vacation: The Jellyfish Festival! Three days of live music, extreme sports entertainment, interactive art and music exhibits, unique vendors, and so much more! Taking over the beach from North Division Street to the Pier, the Jellyfish Festival is one of Ocean City’s most exciting new events to happen in a long time. Headliners for the main stage include Styx, Badfish, and Newboys. Many more wonderful acts finish out the 3-day music lineup. The Jellyfish Festival comes at the tail end of Spring and finishes at the beginning of Summer. Event dates are June 21-23. More information and tickets for the main stage can be found here!

If the Jellyfish Festival has you tingling with excitement, then you’re in luck, we have special hotel rates that will help you enjoy the festival and save a little on your accommodation. Our Harrison Hall Hotel located on 15th Street and our Flagship Oceanfront Hotel located on 26th Street are both offering sweet pre-season savings if you book by May 1st. Both locations are just a short walk or quick drive from the Jellyfish Festival and offer the perfect accommodation for you and your family. Information about the Harrison Hall Special can be found here! Information about the Flagship Oceanfront special can be found here!

The loudest, biggest, fastest, most spectacular event in town returns for the 12th year this June 15-16. If you haven’t already figured it out, it’s the OC Air Show! Roaring in with their jets blazin’ this year is the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. The pinnacle of air show entertainment, the Blue Angels are a must see! Whether you’ve never seen them before or you’re a Blue Angel fanatic, they’re the birds in the sky that will always catch your eye. Other acts this year include the F-16 Viper Demo team, Canadian Armed Forces Snowbirds, and much more! For more information and tickets, check out their website here!

Want to save on an oceanfront balcony overlooking the Air Show excitement? We got you covered! Our Hilton Ocean City Oceanfront located on 32nd Street is offering up to 20% off your stay if you book before June 20th, check it out here! Last, but certainly not least, Springfest. The unofficial kickoff to Ocean City’s season. The most visited and most talked about event in Ocean City’s first half of the season. Located just steps from the ocean in the OC Inlet, Springfest has it all: music, crafts, vendors, wine, beer, and my personal favorite, amazing FOOD! Admission into Springfest is free and there’s something for all ages to enjoy. Headlining the musical stages this year are Almost Queen, LeAnn Rims, and Night Ranger with special guests The Reagan Years. Many other musical performances can be heard during the 4 days of festivities. Tickets for the main stage can be found here! Springfest takes place from May 2nd-5th. We can’t wait to see you in 2019! Have a great Spring, everyone!

These amazing photographs come to us courtesy of Heather P. Shreve; author, historian, screenwriter, and great great granddaughter of Rosalie Tilghman Shreve, who build and owned the Plimhimmon Hotel in the late 1800s. It was the third hotel on Ocean City’s beachfront and would much later come to be known what we today call the Plim Plaza.

I know what you’re thinking. It’s a suspicious headline coming from a website that wants you to venture to the beach. But have we ever lead you astray, reader? Has science? The notion that nature has a therapeutic effect is not a new one. In fact, back in the 18th century, Victorians were commonly prescribed trips to the shore to alleviate certain pains. What is it about the beach that’s so beneficial to our mental and emotional well-being, anyway?

When it comes to why, more

Just like Snoop says, “It ain’t no fun if everyone can’t have none.”

That might not be a direct quote but what he means is that when we all come together and share, we’re a happier race, living in a happier place. There is a similar idea preached locally. United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore’s mission plainly states ‘To create and enhance opportunities for making a positive and lasting impact in Education, Financial Stability and Health for all.’ The Harrison Group is behind more

Dickens Parlour Theatre in Millville, Del., has taken its acts to Ocean City, Maryland. Summer nights at the Holiday Inn on 67th Street will feature ‘Dicken’s On The Road,’ a magic-comedy show for all ages. The shows are intimate, and not what one might expect, giving the audience plenty of chances to participate. “It’s truly a wow factor that you’re not expecting,” says Jason Gulshen, General Manager at the Holiday Inn, “It’s comedy, but it’s high-level magic.” more

Police Officers have one of the most hectic jobs, and an unfortunate side effect to that is they don’t always have an opportunity, or time, to speak with citizens about general questions or concerns they might have. Departments all over the country do their best to try and combat this disconnect between police and citizens, but it’s easier said than done. However, locally, right here in Ocean City, police are attempting to start a program that they feel will help fight this issue more
