The cherubic winged infant pulls a love arrow from the quiver and draws back the bow, ready and aimed at you. But you’re gone and no longer in the crosshairs because you don’t need to wait for the cupid’s arrow to strike to come to your senses.
As far as big romantic gestures go, cards, chocolate, and flowers are certainly very common ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Not to lessen the sentimental value those things (who doesn’t love chocolate and flowers?), but getting to watch the sun come up over the ocean’s horizon from your hotel balcony is also an amazingly simple way to show someone you care.
They say the most romantic experiences are spontaneous, unexpected trips, so why not a trip to the beach with affordable accommodations? With all the hotel specials we have available, the timing couldn’t be more perfect for a quick getaway full of great views, killer food, and countless things to do!
For instance, The Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites is offering a Valentine Package which includes an Oceanfront Jacuzzi Suite and a three-course gourmet dinner for two at their restaurant, Hemingway’s, for just $114 per night. Yes, please! But let’s say you’re busy or unavailable that weekend… then what? The deal is good Sundays through Thursdays only, all of February, so you’re in luck.
In fact, many hotel specials go beyond just Valentine’s Day weekend. Let’s take a look at Leap Day weekend. Are any of you craft brew lovers? The 5th Annual Love on Tap Beer Festival by Shorecraft invites you to sample unlimited free craft beer tastings from local breweries. The Love on Tap package for the Holiday Inn Oceanfront includes two nights accommodations in a fully-equipped efficiency with kitchenette and private balcony, as well as a $25 gift card for Touch of Italy restaurant, located in the hotel, and admission to the Love on Tap Beer Festival at the Ocean City Convention Center. The DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean City Oceanfront and the Hilton Ocean City Oceanfront Suites are also running Love on Tap packages, all of which you can browse here to see which one’s ideal for you.
Of course, I always recommend getting out of the hotel for a while and heading to Seacrets. They’re running Valentine’s Day lunch and dinner specials all day— Love Appetizers include Crab Beignets, Truffle Mac & Cheese, and more, as well as live music on the Tiki Stage! Or if you’re looking for a quieter evening, head over to the Award-Winning Marlin Moon Restaurant for their special Valentine’s Day Dinner menu, available February 10th through the 20th.
Alright, I’ve thrown a lot at you. “Just a trip to the beach, nothing fancy or special,” you say. Perfect! When you book directly with one of our hotels, there’s a high probability you’re going to SAVE, whether it’s up to 20% Off at the Hilton or DoubleTree, 30% Off at the Quality Inn Oceanfront, or even Half Off some nights at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites.
And hey, maybe you don’t even plan on making a February trip at all. Maybe part of your Valentine is the gift of a reservation confirmation for this summer. And if that’s the case, there’s no better time to book.

These amazing photographs come to us courtesy of Heather P. Shreve; author, historian, screenwriter, and great great granddaughter of Rosalie Tilghman Shreve, who build and owned the Plimhimmon Hotel in the late 1800s. It was the third hotel on Ocean City’s beachfront and would much later come to be known what we today call the Plim Plaza.
I know what you’re thinking. It’s a suspicious headline coming from a website that wants you to venture to the beach. But have we ever lead you astray, reader? Has science? The notion that nature has a therapeutic effect is not a new one. In fact, back in the 18th century, Victorians were commonly prescribed trips to the shore to alleviate certain pains. What is it about the beach that’s so beneficial to our mental and emotional well-being, anyway?
When it comes to why, ...read more
